Yokai are mythical creatures and spirits from Japanese folklore. They can be mischievous or dangerous, kind or menacing, and can even bring good fortune to those who encounter them.
Inspired by Japanese izakaya culture, the bar + restaurant Yokai is a casual, upbeat spot for friends to catch up and have a few laughs while enjoying cool cocktails, hot ramen, crisp beers, crunchy Korean fried chicken, refreshing sake, delicious bao, warming whisky, and a variety of other fun, tasty eats that complement the drinks.
Literally translating to “a place to relax and drink,” izakaya are a melting pot of flavors, cultures, and tastes where everyone is welcome. We invite you to Yokai to try our own fun twist on a variety of dishes inspired by bar fare and street food you might find in Japan, Korea, China, and around the world, with a few completely unique creations of our own.

Quickly becoming one of, if not my favorite, places in Greensboro. The menu is original, focused, and obviously delicious but what always impresses me is their consistency. Where other places are hit and miss or have fallen off, Yokai's food and outstanding service never disappoints.

Went for the first time yesterday and the food was amazing! I had the Shoyu Ramen with Chicken Katsu! Very flavorful. The sweet chili chicken wings were great as well! I opted for a lychee martini mocktail that was excellent. The music was great and the place was overall very clean. Nice ambiance! Will definitely be returning.

The cocktails and food were delicious as always! I've dined at Yokai and gotten takeout several times, and I'm always impressed with absolutely everything. After living 20+ years in the Durham / Chapel Hill area, I'm really grateful to have such a great restaurant here in GSO. I'll be back soon.
